Recipe: Homemade Pizza- Dairy/Soy Free Pizza & Onion Pizza with American & Mozzarella Cheese

Once a week, we have homemade pizza for dinner.  Everyone looks forward to it. I have tried so many crust recipes and all of them were good but not worth repeating.  I just kept searching for the best.  I finally found one that fit the bill.  It's Pioneer Woman's Pizza Crust.  You can find the crust recipe here .  Make sure you use extra virgin olive oil, I think it makes all the difference. Mix the dough ingredients and form into a ball.  Then lightly coat the ball of dough with olive oil and cover the bowl with a clean tea towel.  Let it rise for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Prepare to pans (I usually use cookie sheets) by sprinkling them with cornmeal. Split the dough in half and roll each half out on a floured surface and put it on the prepared pans. Next, let it sit for 20-30 minutes before putting on the toppings.  I find that this helps to make sure the crust is not soggy. Right before baking, top the pizzas with your favorite toppings.  For my family, I

Free Crochet Pattern: Valentine's Day Headbands

I made these adorable Valentine's headbands for my daughters.  For three free crochet headband patterns and how I made them, see below! I saw the cutest heart headband floating around Pinterest and decided to make one for each of my daughters.  The tutorial for the heart headband is here and the original heart pattern is here . But instead of using an elastic headband, I decided to use a crochet one.  I made some of these last year for my girls to wear at Easter and they turned out well so I was excited to make more. Here are my hearts: For the red one, I used Vanna's Choice yarn in Scarlet with a K hook.  For the darker pink, I used Red Heart Soft Baby Steps in Strawberry with an I hook.  For the lighter pink, I used Vanna's Choice yarn in Pink with a G hook. All of the headbands begin the same way.  If you are using 2 hair ties you have to join them together before you start joining the yarn onto the hair tie. If you are using one hair tie, you can beg

Tutorial: Baby Girl Nursery DIY First Initial Blocks

I am due to have my third baby girl in 8 short days.  With the holiday season, I was way behind on all of the cute nursery DIY projects that I wanted to do.  Now, though, I am starting to work on them. I bought the supplies for this one months ago and just finished it up today.  I'm really excited about how it turned out. First I started out with the following: -3 wooden photo blocks (my picture only shows 2 though)- each measuring about 3 1/4" square -Craft Essentials acrylic paint in Grey and Twinkle Pink I painted one block pink and two blocks gray (two coats on each) and let them dry completely. Then I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out an "R" in gray vinyl.  You could also use a stencil and paint if you don't have a vinyl cutter or don't want to use it. I also purchased the following from Michael's Arts & Crafts: -2 complementary flowers made out of fabric, burlap, and lace- I got mine from Michael's Arts & Cra

Tutorial: Valentine's Day DIY Conversation Heart Decoration

In the past I haven't decorated too much for Valentine's day but this year, I am really into it.  I have made/am making bunch of projects to celebrate the holiday.  The first one I made are these candy heart decorations and I'm so excited to display them on my mantel. I started with the following supplies: -a 3 pack of burlap cover canvas (8x10) -a printed heart template -Craft Essentials acrylic paints in Margarita, Twinkle Pink, and Purple Pansy -I used my Silhouette Cameo and red vinyl to the following sayings: "be mine", "kiss me", and "xoxo" I cut the heart template out. Then I traced around the heart with a pencil. Next, I painted the heart with one of the colors I choose.  First I did green. Then I did it with the other colors and let all three of them dry completely. After they were completely dry, I stuck the vinyl letters to each of the hearts. This was a quick, easy proj
