Free Crochet Pattern: Emerson Car Seat Cover or Baby Blanket

I love the concept of car seat covers/canopies.  When you use a regular blanket instead, it is always falling off and you are constantly picking it up off the ground.  A car seat cover covers and protects your baby for cold weather, rain, snow, bright sun, you name it and it hooks on the handle bar so it ALWAYS stays in place!  I absolutely love it and if you have a baby in an infant seat, you NEED to make one of these to see how great it is. PLEASE REMEMBER, it is dangerous to have your baby covered up in their car seat for long periods of time.  This cover is NOT meant for that.  This cover is only meant to be used when you are walking from your house to your car, store to car, school to car, and the like...it is meant to protect your baby from rain, snow, strong wind as you are walking from the places mentioned above.  It is not meant to be left on the car seat when you are driving, sitting somewhere, going to a long walk or stroller ride, o...

Free Crochet Pattern: Wylie Baby Blanket

I have been wanting to make a granny and v-stitch blanket for a while so...here it is!  This is baby blanket that I came up with for a friend who is due to have a baby girl this summer.  It was super easy to make and really fun because of how colorful it is...though that does leave a lot a ends to weave in!  It could be made in any number of colors or even solid.   My goal here was to make a square blanket that it bigger than my previous baby blankets.  I wanted something that the baby could grow into but could still be used in the stroller now.  My finished size is 38.5" by 38.5".  Let's get to the pattern :) Materials needed: • U.S. H- 5.0 MM crochet hook • Worsted weight yarn- used here:           -Color A: Willow Wash in Cream- 3 skeins           -Color B:  Willow Wash in Red Apple- 1 skein           -Color C:  Willow Was...

Crochet Projects: 2016 Temperature Blanket Update

So, more than a month into my temperature blankets, I can speak with a little more experience on my 2016 temperature blankets. My hexagon temperature blanket is going strong :)  I calculated this one nicely so that the hexies are small enough to use in a functional blanket that is a good size, even after making 366 of them.  I'm liking my color choices and I love the join-as-you-go method.  I hate weaving in the ends but I am trying to keep up with it. Here it is at the end of January... My granny stripe blanket is another story.  I did't think too much about the size of this one in the beginning and now its coming back to haunt me :)  My starting chain was too large so it takes a while to finish a row and if I kept going with it the way it was, it would be more than 15 feet long at the end of the year...lol.  Then I thought I would split it into 3 blankets...one for each of my kids...four months in each blanket...while I still like this idea...
