I try to plan out my dinners one week in advance. It makes dinner time easier since I know what I am going to make ahead of time instead of figuring it out at the last minute. But, sometimes, I just don't want the meal I planned on having. That's how this meal was created. Instead of my planned meal, I wanted some kind of spaghetti that was a little different than my normal recipe. Adding the green pepper to the dish made it so delicious and just a little different.
1 tbsp canola oil
1 pound italian sausage
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp italian seasoning
1 15 oz. can Don Pepinos pizza sauce
1 14.5 oz. can stewed tomatoes
pasta, prepared according to package
Heat the canola oil over medium high heat. Cut the sausage into 1-inch pieces. Brown the sausage in the oil.
Sausage and Pepper Pasta
1 tbsp canola oil
1 pound italian sausage
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp italian seasoning
1 15 oz. can Don Pepinos pizza sauce
1 14.5 oz. can stewed tomatoes
pasta, prepared according to package
Heat the canola oil over medium high heat. Cut the sausage into 1-inch pieces. Brown the sausage in the oil.
Then turn the heat down to medium and add the onions and peppers. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until the onions turn translucent and the peppers soften.
Next add the garlic.
Then add the salt, pepper, and italian seasoning.
Stir everything together and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Next add the pizza sauce and stewed tomatoes. Break the large pieces of stewed tomato up with a spoon as you stir.
Bring to the boil then reduce to simmer. Simmer for about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, cook the type of pasta that you like according to the package. When the noodles and sauce are both cooked, toss the noodles in the sauce or spoon the sauce over the noodles and serve. Enjoy!
