Crochet Project: Crochet Temperature Blanket

I have so many projects planned for 2016...I'm so excited.  I find project planning on of the most exciting aspects of crochet...the colors, the stitches, the possibilities...I love it. The first project that I will be starting tomorrow, January 1, 2016 is a temperature blanket.  I have had granny stripe blanket on my crochet bucket list for a while and I think this is the perfect time to make it. I've been going though my yarn stash and these are the colors I chose to use and the temperatures for which they correspond... All of the yarn is Vanna's Choice- Color Temperature Burgundy >100 ° F Cranberry 90 to 100 ° F Scarlet 80 to 90 ° F Terra Cotta 70 to 80 ° F Mustard 60 to 70 ° F Sweet Pea 50 to 60 ° F Kelly Green 40 to 50 ° F Aqua 30 to 40 ° F Sapphire 20 to 30 ° F Purple 10 to 20 ° F Magenta 0 t...

Free Crochet Pattern: Greene Pom Pom Hat

This is the hat that matches the Green Pom Pom Scarf that I published earlier this year.  I LOVE the texture of this hat.  Before you attach the pom pom, you can choose which side of the hat you want to use (it is completely reversible at this stage). Here I'm using three colors to achieve a color block look but this hat would be really beautiful in a solid color as well. Materials needed: • U.S. I/9- 5.5 MM crochet hook • Cascade Yarns Pacific in 3 colors- used here: 37 Clover, 52 Geranium, 01 Cream (you can easily substitute any other yarn, your  finished size may change though) • Tapestry needle for sewing in the ends  • Clover pom-pom maker- I used the 3 3/8" one Gauge: •I think that the best way to do the gauge for this is to make the hat up to the end of the increases.  In each size, I specify the size that your flat circle should be.  If your flat circle does not match my measurement, go up or down a hook until...

Free Crochet Pattern: Eustis Scarflette

The weather is starting to get cool in my neck of the woods and with the drop in temperatures, my children are starting to ask for new cold weather accessories.  I came up with this scarflette for my 3 year old daughter.   She is always moving at warp speed, it seems, and she always wants to do everything by herself.  So, I didn't want to make her a long scarf that she would struggle with wrapping around her neck or a scarflette with buttons because I'm not sure she'd slow down enough to button it herself or to let me help :)   Materials needed: • J/6.00MM crochet hook • Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn! in two colors- Used here: Turquoise & Peacock • Tapestry needle for sewing in the ends  Gauge: • 6 hdc= 2 inches Abbreviations: • ch= chain • sc= single crochet • hdc= half double crochet • sl st= slip stitch Finished size: • Scarflette= 6.5" by 22" before it is sewn and folded Scarflette: 1: Ch 26, turn...
